My son suffered for 5 yrs from 14 - 19 yrs old! Now he uses a prescription called Duac. He puts it on his face in the morning after shaving and at night after showing. Like night and day. He was using Tazorac and it just kept clogging his pores and making tons of whiteheads! Looked like shiney glue on his face. Duac is so light, non-greasy and AWESOME! Ask your doctor about it. They had him using Differen too and that didn't work at all. Pills don't work; made him sick to his stomach.
He also cut out lots of sugar from his diet. Drinks seltzer mixed with 100% juices for soda or just plain with fresh limes squeezed into it.
Duac rocks! Topical gel (clindamycin 1% w/benzoyl peroxide 5%) Expensive but works. Proactive did nothing. Use a St Ives mask once or twice a month too. More if really oily skin. It's cheap at CVS.
That is what finally worked for my boy after years of awful awful acne, embarrassment and suffering. Wish he had used it sooner, years sooner.
no i hav proactiv and personally i think that its a scam. ive been using it for a month and my face looks the same. I really recommend nuetragena though that is the best face medication that really gives you results. or ive used the clean and clear face kit and that really works well. but proactiv does not work.

i used it, and by the time the bottles where empty i had worse acne. it works at first but then i makes it worse. just go to walgreens and by the simple stuff. as long as you use it every nite it will work

Do you ever get zits in your scalp?
If you have oily skin (i.e oily scalp) the you will get your so-called scalp zits. It is just your plugged up hair follicles. After you shampoo your hair, squirt some sea-breeze onto your scalp and let stand while you shower. Rinse out and then condition. Your hair will be awesome and the end of your scalp-zit problem!!

In addition, I always washed my hair every night and kept my hair away from my face. Also, (I don't know if you are female or male but) avoiding heavy make-up to cover zits is not a good idea.

Okay I have this massive zit that actually looks like it is made of three zits that I can't get popped to reduce the size. *toothpaste on the spots overnight (dont use as a mask!)
*lemon juice %26amp; sugar as a scrub (worked really well for me)
*vinegar as an astrigent thing or...
*rubbing alcohol, also as an astrigent (alcohol rely dries it out)
*an egg white as a 1-2 times a week mask
many of these will dry the face out though so i highly recomend you buy a oil free face moisterizer...one or the brands i said above will really work...this is unless you have really oily skin.

Crush up an aspirin and add a little bit of water to make a paste. Apply the paste to the pimple and allow it to sit for a couple of minutes before washing off with soap and water.
The aspirin paste will reduce the redness and soothe the sting. If the pimple persists, repeat the procedure as needed until it is gone.

I used accutane, but nothing I have tried has worked as well as this simple preparation.
If ya dont wanna go throught all that mess, Clearasil Advanced works great for me. It usually fixes it overnight! Thats just my opinion....I have no science to back it up.

yeah, ';prime';, i have tried the toothpaste thing, and for sensitive skin, all that does is make a big dry scab wherever you put the toothpaste. and by the looks of her avatar, her skin could be sensitive. your best bet is concealing really well whenever you go out and buying a drying cream. preferably a tinted one (i feel they are stronger than the clear or white zit creams). and wash your face and put a good amount on affected area...it should be gone in a week. if you want in any faster...you should probably go to a dermatologist.

You can make a paste out of baking soda and warm water (mix it up in your clean hand) and apply a nice, thick layer of it over the pimple. Let it completely dry and then rinse it off with warm water. This will really dry out the pimple.
You can also put hot water on a washcloth (as hot as you can tolerate without burning your skin) and hold it on the pimple. The heat should help draw out the pus.
Try not to pop it if you can, because it can cause scarring, and if you don't extract it properly you can make it worse (bigger.)

I'm 22 and have always popped my zits and have yet to see one scar from it! If you have a whitehead pop the bugger and put some antibiotic ointment on it to keep it from getting infected. Oil zits are trickier (and painful) so you may want to leave those alone. A little of the antibiotic ointment on those does tend to heal them faster.
pop it and drain it - make sure to get rid of all the bad blood and puss, then put lemon juice on it (cotton ball with lemon juice against the pimple) for ten minutes. It will be red for a little while but won't leave a scar.

I thought that I was free of the curse of acne until around the first of this year. All of a sudden, my freshman year in college, I started breaking out like totally crazy and it totally freaked me out.
I tried everything. Proactive, oxycerin, acnecetin, etc. and none of it worked too great.
Although I believe I had the best results with oxycerin, I started having periodic breakouts which were not supposed to happen, and the really painful thing about it was that it was $129.99, Which when you are a 19-year-old in college, is not very practical because I found myself like find that small bottle for that cost like every two weeks.
I even tried those pills, but oh my god they made me sick and tore my stomach all up.
Right when I was about to give up on everything, I found something that probably worked in within five or six days, everything cleared up, and it was as if my life was restored 鈥?it never came back.

i have found a really good product.Its affordable and really works! Its called CleanZit I buy it at a public sallys store.You can try a travel pack and see if you like it then if you do you can buy a regular pack, I love it! Every one says i have such beautiful soft skin.
When I was a teen I used Zapazit, it was the best zit cream I found. Use a face scrub like st. ives gentle apricot scrub daily and a mild face wash. Steam your face once a week and use a face mask for acne. If all else fails, go see a dermatologist, there around 60 bucks if you don't have insurance but they've got all the big guns to get your face clear.

Another easy home remedy is an asprin mask. You just take 6 or so asprin in a small bowl and put a little water on them- like 5 drops. They will dissolve really fast and you can add water to make it whatever consistancy you want. Just put it on your face and let it sit until dry. Then just rinse it off with warm water. Good Luck!
oh and if you start sneezing it's time to take it off- not sure why it does this but once you rinse it the sneezing will stop!

I would definitely suggest you try SWISS glutathione bar. i used proactive solutions for a bit...i really didn't like anything in the kit but the mask...lol..i think it works better thought if you leave it on over night...but really the best thing ive used and still using is...monistat 7 (old school method 7 day box) and ambe soap (face wash) for my acne...trust me...you'll see unbelievable results the next morning...btw you can get all that at walmart...the soap...look in the black section...lol..and both these...use em for how ever long you need too...

Well you need to wash your face every morning and every night, maybe put some zit remover stuff on them when you go to bed and wash it off in the morning. You should try Bare Minerals, it is all natural and has stuff in the powder that helps get rid of the zits. I love it!I haven't more than one or two zits in the past month!
I use Clearasil it's the best I use the daily face wash, and acne cream just incase I get a pimple. It's also great for on the go just put it in your purse, or pocket, and ur set! My nephew choose to go through the phase of ';ZITS';, some teenagers and adults can not endure the emotional repercussions of it. Please have your mom talk to a reputable doctor and let you in on the conversation, for your input, or concerns.

1- Take bee pollen tablets and low dosage zinc tablets 2 times a day. With a large glass of water. I did and it really helped. These are both over the counter. I think you have to sometimes heal from the inside out. It is what we put in our bodies that makes a big difference on the outside.
2- Drink 8 - 8oz glasses of water a day. Don't like water add some propel to a large glass of water. (You can buy a box of 10 from Walmart for $2.49 ) then it won't be so boring.
3- To dry out your acne I used both of these put colgate toothpaste on the pimple and let it sit for awhile wash off with warm water and pat it dry don't rub too hard.. and if you have a boil or a big pimpli that may hurt I used equal parts of salt, baking soda and peroxide. Mix in a bowl put in the microwave then mix unitl it turns into a paste if you have to add a little more of the powdered ingrediants then go ahead just try to keep them equal parts. Then while it is warm put on affected area, make sure it is on thick. Leave it on for a while like 10 minutes maybe even let it sit on there while you watch a show then take it off gently with a warm cloth. It will bring the pus to the surface. You 'll be able to extract it without as much damage to your skin.
4- After the extraction is done, put some Vitamin E Oil on. It helps with scarring and is natural and doesn't cost a lot.
5- Splash your face with cold water thru out the day to keep the dirt off. Take Care
