Appears to be a zit on my gum below a tooth with a filled cavity?

I found a little bump that looks like a large zit on the side of my gum, which is right by the only tooth ive ever had filled for a cavity. Help?Appears to be a zit on my gum below a tooth with a filled cavity?
An abscess is filled with pus.

If left untreated, it can find its way into your bone. Bone infections are not good. At best your tooth will fall out. At worst, it gets to you sinuses and your eyes and you are in for massive health bills and lots of pain.

Not trying to scare you, but they are very serious things. I had one and it was no fun at all.

To the person who said 'it eventually went away', there's no proof that it didn't move somewhere else. And if it did go away, you were one of the lucky ones.

Good to the dentist ASAP. It's kind of one of those things you don't want to mess around with.

Good luck,
